Bangers and Mash

Ingredients

  • 8 pork sausages, not Italian
  • 2lbs Yukon gold potatoes
  • 1/2 tsp salt

 

  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3/4 to 1 cup hot milk
  • 1 batch onion gravy

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Peel and cut potatoes into roughly equal chunks.
  3. Put potatoes, salt, and water into pot and bring to boil. Reduce to a simmer until tender (10-20min depending on number of potatoes and size of chunks).
  4. Place sausages in a baking pan with a little oil and roast for 10min on each side or until browned.
  5. Drain potatoes and mash while hot.
  6. Stir in butter. Add hot milk gradually, allowing it to absorb into the potatoes before adding more. Add just enough milk to make it a pleasant texture.
  7. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Heap potatoes on plate, position sausages on top, and smother in onion gravy!
